Papercraft Friday #60: Doctor Who Cybershade

September 25, 2009

Cybershade Mask

Last week saw the release of the new Doctor Who series 2008 Christmas Special Doctor Who: The Next Doctor on DVD.  Now that you’ve had a chance to buy it and watch it (you have… haven’t you?), you can download and build this Cybershade mask featured in the story.  The mask build is rather crude by modeler standards, but anyone who has built a few models can enhance it pretty easy.  Enjoy, before it’s (or you’re) deleted!

Papercraft Friday #57: Doctor Who Adipose

September 4, 2009

Compared to other sci-fi like Star Trek and the like, finding good Doctor Who papercraft is a challenge.  Finding practically any Doctor Who papercraft is a challenge!  So seeing the Adipose papercraft that Sponzar posted on HunkyDorky just made my day.  Those little fat balls from the Doctor Who episode “Partners In Crime” are so darn cute!

The inspiration of a penguin model from Madagascar is brilliant in its simplicity.

Free Doctor Who: The Mists of Time

August 20, 2009

If you’ve never tried any of the Doctor Who audio series from Big Finish before, you’ve been missing out on some good stuff.  Now’s your chance to give it a try – for free!  The 19 August issue of Doctor Who Magazine (Issue #411) has a link and code to Big Finish Productions website.  According to the site:

There’s a brand new audio adventure that readers can download for free that’s exclusive to Doctor Who Magazine! The story forms part of the Companion Chronicles series, in which the Doctor’s friends and allies recount previously untold adventures.

The Mists of Time features the Third Doctor and his companion, Jo Grant. When Jo finds herself on a distant planet in the far future, she’s greeted by an archaeologist, Calder, who is marooned on the deserted world. With no memory of how she arrived, Calder reminds her that they’ve met before – and she starts to recall a tale of ghosts and murders and a terrible Time Lord secret…

The Mists of Time stars Katy Manning as Jo Grant and Andrew Whipp as Calder.

The story is full length, clocking in at 1:27:43.  Follow the link and enter code 01795 to download.  While there, check out their other special DWM exclusive offers, as well as the rest of their audios.

Coveroo

August 12, 2009

coveroo
Justin turned me onto Coveroo, who make custom covers for cell phones and other devices.  The covers are exact replacements for your phone, with the design lasered in.  He got a sweet Star Trek one for his Bold prior to the movie this summer, and I knew it was just a matter of time before I’d get a Coveroo for my Blackberry 8900.  I did the Seal of Rassilon from Doctor Who.  I like it because it’s very iconic to fans of Doctor Who, and for non-fans it’s a nice design and not a garish logo or some equally tacky design.  There were no Doctor Who designs on Coveroo, so I did a custom design and sent them the logo.  Turnaround was only about a week, and I think it looks great.

New K9 Series Trailer

April 11, 2009

The trailer was made to promote the new series at the MIPTV festival in Cannes, and apparently the music, titles and voice of K9 are not final.  The BBC is not involved in the production.

They are involved in the production of new Doctor Who, which airs in a couple of hours in the UK.  Tune in!
