Papercraft Friday #78: NASCAR #48 Lowe’s Jimmie Johnson Car

Though not a topic I normally converse about, the subject of NASCAR and Jimmie Johnson came up at the office today.  It reminded me that I had once seen a page of NASCAR paper models, so I dug up the link.  Lo and behold, there was a Jimmie Johnson #48 Lowe’s car, so I thought it meant that it must be today’s papercraft.  Follow this link for the model and assembly instructions.  The website has a lot of NASCAR models from 2005 & 2006 of the likes of Dale Earnhardt Jr, Rusty Wallace, Jeff Gordon and more.

Papercraft Friday #77: Rurikoji Temple Pagoda

March 5, 2010

One of the papercraft models that got me into the hobby was Build Your Own Japanese Pagoda by Alan Rose.  I love that model and still display it proudly.  It was based on the 5-story pagoda at the Kōfuku-ji temple in Nara, Japan.  If you can’t track that model down (it was published in 1982!), how about building another 5-story pagoda, this one from the Rurikoji Temple in Yamaguchi City.  Not quite as big as the Alan Rose pagoda, but still a great build and free to boot!  Enjoy!

Papercraft Friday #76: Battlestar Galactica Viper Mk. II

February 19, 2010

The reimagined Battlestar Galactica series that aired from 2004-2009 far exceeded my expectations, to the extent that I’m far more willing to give something a shot and not rely on the interwebs to tell me whether something will be good or not.  I’m surprised that it took me 76 Papercraft Friday posts to finally feature something from Battlestar Galactica, but here it is: the Viper Mk. II.  It’s marked as the ship of Kara Thrace (a.k.a. Starbuck).  Get it from Ninjatoes’ Papercraft webpage.

Papercraft Friday #75: Chinese Dragon

It’s been awhile since I featured a papercraft dragon (not counting the dragon illusion one), and I was in the mood for a fun and different one.  Canon Creative Park has a pretty cool Chinese Dragon.  The vibrant colors will really stand out amidst your papercraft models (tip: put it in the north corner).  Have fun with it, and I hope it brings you luck.

Papercraft Friday #74: Bioshock Big Daddy

Are you ready to be a Big Daddy?  2K Games is releasing Bioshock 2 next week, the long anticipated follow-up to the 2007 hit Bioshock.  I was a big fan of the original Bioshock, and made it my #2 game of 2007.  This time, you ARE a Big Daddy!  Get into the mindset of a Big Daddy by building a paper one, complete with Little Sister (not pictured).  Download it via Chamoo232’s  Papercraft Archive.

Papercraft Friday #73: Avatar AT-99 Scorpion Gunship

I finally saw Avatar last weekend with my brother, and one of the things I kept thinking during the movie was how cool the “helicopters” were.  I loved watching the rotors move and rotate.  Blogger tekzo at paperhobby created a nice reproduction of the VTOL craft, and made it available for download on his site.  Now he just needs to make a Navi warpaint version!

Papercraft Friday #72: Spirit Tracks Link

January 22, 2010

Something draws me towards the Link and Zelda papercrafts.  I don’t know why.  But Nintendo Papercraft recently posted a model of Link from The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, playing the Spirit Flute.  I’ve recently started playing that on the Nintendo DS, and it’s pretty good.  I’m gonna have to add this model to the collection.  You can download it in A4 or Letter size at Nintendo Papercraft.

Papercraft Friday #71: Foosball

December 11, 2009

A few weeks ago, Paperkraft.net featured a fun model from Kirin Beverage Company in Tokyo, Japan.  It’s a tiny foosball table, also known as table football or table soccer depending on where you live.    I like little models that have working parts.  The base of this model is no larger than a sheet of paper, but it has a lot of detail.  Get it know via Paperkraft.net.

Papercraft Friday #70: Crown

If I was king for just one day, I would … make a paper crown!  This German site has a simple but nice one that kids might enjoy wearing around the house.  Maybe while singing Thompson Twins songs.  Diamond rings and all those things, they never sparkle like your smile…
