The $1.1 Million World of Warcraft Pandaren Make-A-Wish Monk

February 17, 2010

A couple of months ago, Blizzard Entertainment announced new in-game pets for sale online for $10 each.  One of them was the Pandaren Monk, and the proceeds of sales of it through December 31st were to be split 50/50 with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  The grand total was announced today, with Blizzard presenting Make-A-Wish a check for $1.1 million dollars.

Way to go, Blizzard and World of Warcraft players!  You’ve made a lot of sick kids wishes come true.

Letters from Santa

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it’s time for “the holiday season” to swing into full force.  Time to start thinking about getting in those donations for Letters from Santa.  As I mentioned last year at this time, a local parent group runs a fundraiser every year called “Letters from Santa.”  The St. John’s Mercy NICUPS (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Parents) are a group of graduate parents from the hospital’s NICU that provide support for families of babies in the NICU.  The donations provide assistance with such things as disposable cameras, gas cards, one-on-one talks, and weekly parent support group meetings.

You can order a personalized letter from Santa at www.miraclebaby.org.  We’ve done it every year, and I just placed our order once again for this year.  Support a good cause and put a smile on your kids face at the same time!

My daughter and brain tumor patient Isabelle smiles before the 2007 ride.

It’s that time of year again.  Time for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation Ride for Kids.  The one in St. Louis is held each year in September.  Last year, the St. Louis Ride for Kids raised $69,780.  The seventh annual event in St. Louis will be on Sunday, September 21st.  It starts at St. Charles Community College and we ride our through the beautiful Missouri countryside, looping back to the college for lunch.  If you are a motorcycle owner, ride out and join us!  Registration is $35, starts at 8 a.m. and closes at 9:45 a.m., with the ride starting at 10 a.m.

If you don’t have a bike but would like to donate, you can send a registration form and donations to PBTF, 302 Ridgefield Ct., Asheville, NC 28806. Mark your form “Not Attending” to credit.  This will credit the St. Louis event.

You can see all the inforamtion on their website.  Hope to see you there, and thanks for your support!
